Based on a poem written by the Cuban poet <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jos%C3%A9_Mart%C3%AD\" target=\"_blank\">Jos\u00e9 Mart\u00ed<\/a> the title literally means \u201ca woman from the Guant\u00e1namo area\u201d.&nbsp; It was made famous outside Cuba in 1963 by <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"The Sandpipers (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Jm1anurhbeg\" target=\"_blank\">The Sandpipers<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Guantanamera.
