The idyllic surroundings of the town are dominated by a complex of white washed, blue domed churches and charming, traditional Cycladic houses and cave houses that are carved into the rock face on top of the cliff. The village captures the essence of the island.\u00a0 If you want something different then a trip to Mesa Gonia might be for you.\u00a0 After the island was hit by an earthquake in 1965, Mesa Gonia became a ghost town.
